On August 12, 2021, the U.S. Census Bureau released the 2020 Census redistricting data files, also known as the Public Law (P.L.) 94-171 files, in the legacy format. The State Demographer’s Office processed the Arizona datasets and produced the following data tables in an easy-to-read format. Most of these tables contain comparisons with the 2010 Census data.
- State, counties, and incorporated places: Household and group quarter (GQ) population and housing units, 2010 and 2020;
- State, counties, and incorporated places: GQ population by GQ type, 2010 and 2020;
- State and counties: Population by race and Hispanic Origin, 2010 and 2020;
- Incorporated places: Population by race and Hispanic Origin, 2010 and 2020;
- American Indian/Alaska Native/Hawaiian Home Land: Household and GQ population and housing units, 2010 and 2020;
- American Indian/Alaska Native/Hawaiian Home Land: Population by race and Hispanic Origin, 2010 and 2020;
- Census Designated Places (CDPs): Household and GQ population and housing units, 2010 and 2020;
- Census Designated Places (CDPs): Population by race and Hispanic Origin, 2010 and 2020;
- Census Tracts: Household population, GQ population by GQ type, and housing units, 2020 data.
- Arizona School Districts: Household and GQ population and housing units, 2010 and 2020;
- Arizona School Districts: Population by race and Hispanic Origin, 2010 and 2020;
- Arizona School Districts: Under 18 Population by race and Hispanic Origin, 2010 and 2020;
- Arizona School Districts: 18 and Over Population by race and Hispanic Origin, 2010 and 2020;
- All U.S. States: Population by race and Hispanic Origin, 2010 and 2020.
The following are block level data files with selected variables. The Arizona file contains all blocks in the State of Arizona. The county files contain blocks of their respective counties. Please note that because of the Census Bureau’s implementation of Differential Privacy (DP) for its Disclosure Avoidance System (DAS), data at the block level can be very noisy. They should not be used on their own. They need to be aggregated to higher geographies such as block groups and census tracts to yield meaningful data.

On September 21, 2023 , the Census Bureau released the 2020 Census Detailed Demographic and Housing Characteristics File A (Detailed DHC-A). The data set contains data compiled from the questions on race, ethnicity, sex, and age asked of all people in the 2020 Census. It includes population counts and sex and age statistics for detailed race and ethnic groups and American Indian and Alaska Native tribes and villages. The Detailed DHC-A uses an adaptive design to determine the amount of data a detailed racial/ethnic group receives based on population threshold and geography level. The number of age categories a group is eligible for is also dependent on their population at a given geography. Therefore, not all racial/ethnic groups are present in all tables. Each table also has a different level of accuracy. Due to the adaptive design, there are limitations on how data can accurately be aggregated across racial/ethnic groups and geographies. Information on how to use the data can be found in the technical documentation at https://www.census.gov/data/tables/2023/dec/2020-census-detailed-dhc-a.html#data.
On August 1, 2024, the Census Bureau released the 2020 Census Detailed Demographic and Housing Characteristics File B (Detailed DHC-B). The file includes 2020 Census counts of households, along with information on household type and tenure (whether the home is owned or rented) for 300 detailed race and ethnicity groups and 1,187 American Indian and Alaska Native tribes and villages. The Detailed DHC-B provides household information based on the race or ethnicity of the householder (the first adult in a household for whom census responses were provided). The Detailed DHC-B data are available for the nation, states, counties, places, census tracts and American Indian, Alaska Native and Native Hawaiian (AIANNH) areas. The Arizona State Demographer’s Office tabulated the data for the State of Arizona and its counties.
