Overview

The Office of Economic Opportunity (OEO) is projecting Arizona employment to increase to 3,552,704 jobs in Q2 2026 from 3,485,625 jobs in Q2 2024. This represents an increase of 67,079 jobs, or 1.0% annualized growth.

 

Supersector Highlights

Ten Arizona supersectors are projected to gain jobs from 2024 to 2036.

Arizona's major sectors are projected to record the following employment changes:

  • Health Care and Social Assistance: 27,123 jobs (2.8% annually)
  • Construction: 7,710 jobs (1.7% annually)
  • Leisure and Hospitality: 5,796 jobs (0.7% annually)
  • Trade Transportation and Utilities: 5,672 jobs (0.4% annually)
  • Educational Services: 3,545 jobs (0.8% annually)
  • Government: 2,476 jobs (0.7% annually)
  • Other Services: 1,582 jobs (0.7% annually)
  • Financial Activities: 1,323 jobs (0.3% annually)
  • Manufacturing: 979 jobs (0.3% annually)
  • Professional and Business Services: 23 jobs (0.0% annually)
  • Natural Resources and Mining: -222 jobs (-0.2% annually)
  • Information: -630 jobs (-0.6% annually)

 

Geographic Highlights

Gains are projected in 13 of Arizona's 15 counties over the ten-year forecast period.

Arizona's counties are projected to record the following employment changes:

  • Maricopa County: 55,897 jobs (1.1% annually)
  • Pima County: 3,946 jobs (0.5% annually)
  • Pinal County: 1,948 jobs (1.2% annually)
  • Yavapai County: 1,320 jobs (0.8% annually)
  • Yuma County: 1,112 jobs (0.7% annually)
  • Mohave County: 996 jobs (0.8% annually)
  • Coconino County: 892 jobs (0.6% annually)
  • Navajo County: 373 jobs (0.6% annually)
  • Greenlee County: 292 jobs (2.2% annually)
  • Graham County: 262 jobs (1.1% annually)
  • Gila County: 222 jobs (0.7% annually)
  • La Paz County: 68 jobs (0.4% annually)
  • Santa Cruz County: 34 jobs (0.1% annually)
  • Cochise County: -100 jobs (-0.1% annually)
  • Apache County: -313 jobs (-0.9% annually)
